Friday's Musings

Pushing back the frontiers of ignorance.............

Back from three wonderful weeks in Italy with some observations - (bet you knew that I would have observations!)

1. Everyone in Italy is slim and trim. The only overweight folks are visitors (like me) and the clergy.

2. ALL young Italian women smoke which means the #1 cause of death has to be lung cancer in the future.

3. The number two cause of death has to be too tight pants.

4. There are very few children observable - birth rates must be almost zero.

Pictures to follow on web site in several weeks....... and a special thanks to two fellows that took on the chore of guiding us around in Italy. Leo Kennedy - Around the Amalfi coast and Nick McMillan (although he is a Canadian) every where else!

Marvelous Mary's Meanderings..........................

If I *don't* love something, is it still OK to set it free?

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak

If Love is never having to say you are sorry: ... Then alimony is always having to say you are sorry.

If you let a smile be your umbrella, then most likely your ass will get soaking wet.

And, Live From New York! it's Jeni ............................

The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their right names

Wit is educated insolence

and

May all your troubles last as long as your New Year's resolutions

Actual Headlines................

BOTTLED FOR EVENTUAL USE BY CONGRESS: "Think Tank Will Promote Thinking" -- Washington (D.C.) Post headline

Energizer Bunny arrested -- charged with battery.

War Dims Hope for Peace [I can see where it might have that effect!]

If Strike Isn't Settled Quickly, It May Last Awhile [you think?]

That's it from your embedded reporter, hiding out on the fringes of Absurdia, the capital city of The People's Republic of Absurdistan where a number of pieces of legislation (like the "Wal-Mart Bill") have been shot down by every court system available but the newly elected boy governor says he will resubmit them. (Ain't ignorance and stupidity wonderful?)

And, on the other hand..............

Be kind to others, everyone is fighting a battle of some kind.

A candle that lights another loses nothing.
