My "work in progress" the working title of which is

"With A Lot of Help From Our Friends - The Politics of Alcoholism"

is the story of how a group of recovered alcoholic, lead by charismatic U.S. Senator, changed the face of alcoholism in our nation.  It tells the story of Senator Harold E. Hughes' election to the United States Senate, the creation of a Subcommittee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse which he chaired, and his legislative initiatives which created the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.  I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has knowledge of that period in our history.
