Registration is now available for the 22nd James Ridgely Retreat (JRR), providing an excellent opportunity for men in recovery to further their spiritual growth at the Trinitarian Monastery, 8400 Park Heights Ave. We continue our format of lectures, discussions, meetings and time for quiet reflection. We are pleased to announce two exceptional persons in recovery as this year’s Retreat Leaders.

Terry Keenan, our retreat leader for the first weekend, is a writer, artist and Zen Buddhist monk who is thoroughly familiar with 12-step spirituality. He has worked with alcoholics and addicts as a university chaplain and is presently Buddhist Chaplain at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Ed McNally, our second weekend leader, is a lawyer who first became familiar with recovery programs while studying theology at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore. He has led retreats for alcoholics in upstate New York and has participated in past Ridgely retreats. Ed has counseled alcoholics and addicts with special insight into related spiritual and legal issues.

Registration begins each Friday from 4-5:45PM. The program begins with dinner at 6pm and concludes Sunday by noon. If you will not be able to arrive at the retreat center before 6pm, please make sure your registration fee is paid in full at least one week in advance of your retreat weekend. Late arrivals have caused the registration folks to miss their own dinner and the beginning of their retreat. Thanks for your consideration!

Space is limited to 55 men each weekend on a first come first served basis. To insure your place and choice of weekends, the registration form below must be completed and returned with your deposit as soon as possible. Rooms will be assigned in order of receipt and only with the payment of the registration deposit (check only). We completely sold out last year and registrations could not be accepted because of limited space, so please send your registration in early to reserve your place this year.

Payment: We have held the cost at last year’s level of $190 per person. This includes room, five meals, and ample amounts of ice cream.  Because we supply a meal count in advance, we cannot accept last minute registrations.  Deposit money ($95) should be mailed to the address below and must be received Monday before the Friday of the weekend you are attending (Feb 1 for the first weekend and Feb 8th for the second). Deposits are not refundable.  The balance ($95) is payable upon registration. Make checks payable to JRR.  The Ridgely Foundation, in an effort to include all who wish to attend, funds scholarships for retreatants who need assistance. Please forward all requests at least two weeks prior to the registration deadline. Applications for scholarships can be requested from the address below.

Necessities & Requests: The monastery provides bed linens, pillow, towels and soap.  Board games, playing cards, radios and any similar distractions are prohibited.  Cell phones must be limited to emergency use only.  We will do our best to address special health or dietary requests if we are notified no later than January 29th.
